About
My name is Sophie and I am currently a third-year BA Art and Psychology student at the University of Reading.
Throughout my time at Reading, much of my artwork has revolved around neurodiversity and mental health, more specifically, Autism and ADHD. Learning about the medical model of health and its application within much of the psychological field through my studies has given me insight into the language used and attributed to neurodivergent people, much of which is deficit-based. Being neurodivergent myself, I am keen to use my art to platform issues like this in attempt to create meaningful change within psychology, even if that is just within the university's school of psychology!
Would you be okay with being called abnormal, disordered, or having a deficit?
If you would like to share any opinions you have in regards to this issue, feel free to email me! Your input would be very appreciated, whether you are a psychology student, a neurodivergent individual, lecturer or just someone with an opinion!
